About Harrold Film Nights
Over the last two years audiences have enjoyed a variety of superb films including The Artist, The King’s Speech, Black Swan, Life of Pi, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, It’s a Wonderful Life and Skyfall. Harrold Film Nights provide an opportunity for local people to watch these films with their family & friends at the Harrold Centre at a very reasonable price.
The most recent film night was a screening of the poignant film, Philomena, starring Dame Judi Dench and Steve Coogan, and attracted a record audience of 85 film-goers.
Harrold Film Nights has fast become a popular local event. Villagers can get together, watch a good film on a big screen in the comfort of Harrold Centre. This is particularly helpful for those who either find it difficult to get to one of the big Cinemas, or can’t afford their prices or simply prefer to watch films locally with friends, family & fellow villagers. There is always a bar & drinks are allowed in the Hall in plastic glasses. These are very enjoyable, social village occasions. We sometimes provide something different. Occasionally the bar will serve very reasonably priced, appropriately named cocktails or a special beer. We often sell ice creams. We encouraged appropriate dress for our ”black & white” theme at The Artist film night and for our “Bond Evening” at the screening of Skyfall.
Profit is not the main motivator: tickets are normally priced at £4 (£3 for concessions). Occasionally, when we serve extras such as mulled wine & mince pies, we add a pound to the prices. For the screening of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, we arranged for wonderful Indian Snacks to be served at the end of the film, prepared by the team at Harrold’s Indian Cuisine. Tickets prices were £6 (£5 concessions)
We have already raised almost £1,000 (nearer £1,500 if you include grants) towards the Centre Redevelopment Fund; please help me ensure that this good work and great fun continues.
